Zotero Accessibility
At Zotero, we’re committed to building software that is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities.
We regularly test Zotero for accessibility with VoiceOver on macOS and with NVDA and JAWS on Windows.
While developing Zotero 7, the latest version of our desktop app, we worked with an independent outside auditor to ensure that all functionality is accessible to screen-reader and keyboard-only users. This includes functionality such as PDF highlighting that is frequently ignored when it comes to accessibility.
As of October 2024, the Zotero desktop app fully meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA.
You can download our latest VPAT/ACR here:
Zotero Desktop App Accessibility Conformance Report (VPAT 2.5) (October 24, 2024)
We plan to complete VPATs for the Zotero web library and ZoteroBib in 2025.
We’re constantly improving Zotero, and if you encounter an accessibility problem in the software, please report it in the Zotero Forums so that we can investigate.
