I am a scicomm research and award-winning science communicator. I have written over 300 articles, with bylines and illustrations in several books and publications including Nature, American Scientist, BioScience, Ecology and Society, Western Confluence and more. I am an associate editor of Natural Sciences Education, the founding editor of the Communicating Science section of The Bulletin of the Ecological Society of America, and director and co-founder of the University of Wyoming Science Communication Initiative. Specializing in art-science integration and inclusive science communication, I have trained nearly 600 scientists how to share their science with diverse, public audiences and raise funding to do so. On faculty in the Department of Zoology and Physiology at the University of Wyoming, Bethann works closely with the Wyoming Migration Initaitive and the Biodiversity Institute to share their science. As a first-generation college student myself, I am particularly committed to demystifying the hidden curriculum of academia, especially as it relates to public engagement and science communication.
