The project aims to investigate the linguistic characters of aggressive magic texts in Greek (i.e. curse tablets and magical papyri), in order to identify their characterising features, with particular attention to lexicon, formulae and pragmatic-textual issues. The analysis conducted on the Greek documentation will lead to an ecdotic revision of the texts and of the linguistic mechanisms present in them, which do not have a uniform textual structure and can be traced back to different traditions. For this reasons, we also intend to investigate the transmission mechanisms of magical material.
