Emulation in Research

Emulation is an essential tool for the preservation and analysis of born digital artifacts such as data archives and software applications. Researchers from a range of fields and disciplines rely on emulators for access to cultural materials and objects of study.

The purpose of this group is to gather examples of emulation in arts, humanities, and social sciences research. This might include discussions of emulation as well as projects that use emulation as part of the methodology.

I hope that this collection will provide models and best practices for scholars using (or considering) emulation in the future.

Inspired by conversations at Born Digital Cultural Heritage 2022 Conference.
