Jonathan Farrugia
I am currently Head of the Department of Church History, Patrology and Palaeochristian Archaeology within the Faculty of Theology at the University of Malta, where I lecture Patrology, Patristic Exegesis and Spirituality and Palaeochristian Archaeology.
I obtained my doctorate from the Institutum Patristicum Augustinianum after successfully defending my thesis on sin in the homilies of Gregory of Nyssa in February 2016, under the direction of Prof. Claudio Moreschini.
Currently I am working on the translation of various patristic homilies to my native tongue, Maltese.
I am also interested in historiographic research, especially on religious artifacts found in Malta. In December 2020 I was awarded the National Book Prize for a book on one of Malta's foremost cultic icons: the statue of the Holy Redeemer at Senglea.
