Professional Experience:
High Point Museum Internship 2013-2014
High Point, NC
Organized, researched, designed, and installed A Beautiful Suburb: High Point’s West End, an exhibit at the High Point Museum, Summer 2013 through Fall 2013. This exhibit discussed the history of a small neighborhood in High Point that had a recent violent history but an unknown past that described the community as thriving and vital to the early twentieth century of High Point. This project consisted of academic research, oral histories, exhibit design, community outreach, publications, and exhibit installation. This exhibit won a 2014 NCMC Award of Excellence.
Greensboro Museum Internship 2012
Greensboro, NC
Worked with Jon Zachman at the Greensboro Historical Museum cataloging and photographing artifacts for the Service and Sacrifice database. Cataloged military artifacts on display to include in the kiosk located in the Service and Sacrifice hall of the museum.
Guilford Courthouse National Military Park 2010
National Park Service, Interpretive Ranger
Greensboro, NC
Performed the duty of the front desk ranger including film presentations and informational guides to visitors. 18th century demonstrations with various living history and domestic skills including weaving, sewing, cooking, and textiles. Guided battlefield tours including detailed accounts of the battle, participants, uniforms, weaponry, and 18th century life.
High Point Museum Docent 2008
High Point, North Carolina
Interpretation of 18th century homes located on the property. Demonstrations of weaving, cooking, candle making, soap making, harvesting, clothing, and other domestic skills. Currently volunteering in collections helping to document and catalog new acquisitions. Created extensive documentation of historical programs at the museum with step by step procedures and photographs. Volunteered with the Registrar to catalog and photograph collections.
