Laura J. Mitchell
I'm a social historian with interests in the environment, colonialism, gender & sexuality, identity, and slavery.
My research is focused on Southern Africa in the long eighteenth century. My work on the early colonial history of the Cape of Good Hope connects me to both Atlantic and Indian Ocean worlds.
I'm a fellow traveller with archaeologits, anthropologists and art historians.
I'm invested in exploring the many ways we can represent history to diverse audiences, including museums, various forms of writing, and K-16 education.
