Marcus Callies
Marcus Callies studied history and English at the University of Marburg/Germany where he obtained his first teaching certificate for German secondary schools in 2000 and a PhD in English linguistics in 2006. He worked as lecturer and assistant professor at the universities of Feiburg, Mainz and Bremen in Germany. Since 2014 he is full professor of English Linguistics at the University of Bremen. His main research interests are Learner Corpus Research with a focus on lexico-grammatical variation, discourse-functional and pragmatic aspects of advanced learner varieties, English for Academic Purposes, foreign language teacher education, conceptual metaphor, and the language of sports. He is currently serving as editor of the International Journal of Learner Corpus Research and vice-president of the Learner Corpus Association.
