Karla J. Strand
Dr. Karla J. Strand is the Gender and Women’s Studies Librarian (GWSL) for the University of Wisconsin System. Created in 1977, the Office of the GWSL is one of the premier resources for support of scholarship and librarianship in gender, women’s, feminist, and LGBTQ+ studies in the country. She coordinates projects such as Wisconsin Women Making History and Women’s Knowledge Digital Library as well as numerous bibliographies, including Disrupting Whiteness in Libraries. Her research is focused on women’s participation in white supremacy, history of race and racism, and the role of libraries and information in the empowerment of women and girls around the world.
