I was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1977.  I have obtained my  Ph.D. in the Department of Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Literatures and Languages at CUNY's Graduate Center. In the past, I studied Literature at the Instituto de Profesores Artigas, in Montevideo, Uruguay, where I graduated in 2000. Then I moved to Israel, where I earned an M.A. at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem with a dissertation on the poetry of Argentine writer Néstor Perlongher. In 2004, I took part in a series of courses at the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo ("Curso superior de filología para jóvenes hispanistas"), in Santander, Spain. In 2005, I moved to New York to start my Ph.D.  I have taught Spanish Language and Literature at CUNY, Barnard College and Bard College.

I published a book of poetry, Aterrizaje de primeros semovientes, (Montevideo: Artefato, 2007), and the essay Barroso y sublime: poética para Perlongher (Buenos Aires: Godot, 2008). My current research is on Modernista poetry in Latin America, and the way different forms of media that appeared during this period affected poetic writing. I have served as editor and designer for LL Journal (https://lljournal.commons.gc.cuny.edu), and as webmaster in the Ph.D. Program in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Literatures and Languages.  I’m also interested in the possibilities that open source applications and software provides for artists and academics.
