Rachael Shapiro
Born in Reno, Nevada, Raised in Rochester, New York, I’ve drifted several times around the country and back. I currently spend my days getting in shape, spending time with family and friends, and trying to grow into the woman, teacher, and scholar I imagine I’d like to be.
I’m getting a great start on those projects in the Composition and Cultural Rhetoric program at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. It’s great to be back in my home state so close to family and old friends, and I’m learning so much as I continue reading and talking with the CCR community. I’m looking forward to new teaching experiences and finishing up course work.
My research interests include: technology and social media, digital learning communities, critical and alternative pedagogies, critical race theory, alternative discourses, contact zone rhetorics, the politics of discourse, and service learning.
