Rosario Rogel-Salazar
Rosario Rogel-Salazar holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences and has over 20 years of experience in scholarly communication, Open Science, and Open Access. She is a professor at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMéx), a senior consultant at Scientificomm, and a Level 2 member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNI) at Conacyt. Her multidisciplinary expertise spans Sociology, Urban Studies, Social Theory, Education, and Data Science & Analytics.
She has been a visiting professor in Research Methodology at the University of Cuenca, Ecuador, and a visiting researcher at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). Since 2018, she has represented Figshare as an Ambassador for Latin America, promoting open-access initiatives. She also mentors researchers through AuthorAID, supporting early-career scholars in low and middle-income countries.
Rosario played a key role in developing Mexico’s 2014 Open Access Law and serves on the Board of Directors for the Open Education Conference. She is a member of the Advisory Group for the OA Switchboard and the Programme Committee for the Born-Digital Collections, Archives, and Memory Conference. Additionally, she chairs the Red Iberoamericana de Investigación sobre Globalización y Territorio (RII) and is part of the Scientific Committee of Red Latinoamericana de Sistemas Sociales y Complejidad (RELASSC).
