Sam White is assoc. prof. of environmental history at the Ohio State University, and author of The Climate of Rebellion in the Early Modern Ottoman Empire (Cambridge UP: New York, 2011) among other publications.  He is co-founder and co-director of the Climate History Network (http://www.climatehistory.net/).
